At Open Up, storytelling is central to how we connect with our community, share our mission and highlight the real everyday impact your support makes possible. That’s why we’re so excited to be creating our first-ever charity video – and even more grateful to be doing so in collaboration with the talented team at Exeter College.
This video will offer a powerful insight into the work we’re doing to enhance mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity care across Devon and highlight the people, places and partnerships that bring that work to life.
A partnership with purpose
Thanks to Exeter College’s generosity and creative support, we’ve begun filming stories that reflect the heart of Open Up: compassionate innovation, strong community connection and practical support that improves lives.
From the outset the team at the college has brought enthusiasm, professionalism and care to the project and we’re incredibly grateful for their help in turning our vision into reality.

Stories that matter
The video will feature several of the meaningful projects and initiatives we’ve been proud to support including:
Expanding chaplaincy in community mental health support
We’ve funded the appointment of community mental health chaplains, helping to extend vital emotional and spiritual support beyond inpatient wards and into the community. These chaplains are already making a significant difference – supporting individuals where they are and helping connect them with faith and local community groups. Read more about this initiative.
Babes in the woods
This nature-based wellbeing programme, held at Dainton Copse Forest School, supports new mothers through mindfulness, creative activities and fireside gatherings in a calm natural setting. With funding from Open Up, the programme is helping to reduce anxiety, boost confidence and build a sense of community among participants. Read the full story.
Christmas hampers for children in care
This heart-warming initiative began in 2020 with 100 hampers and has grown each year – with 250 delivered last Christmas. Filled with gifts and essentials, the hampers are designed to offer comfort, joy and a sense of belonging to children and young people in care. Find out more.
Watch this space
We can’t wait to share the finished video with you. It will be more than a film – it’s a celebration of what we’ve achieved together and a powerful way to raise awareness of the impact Open Up is having across Devon.
Our sincere thanks go to Exeter College for helping us tell these important stories. Their support is helping us shine a light on the difference community-led innovation can make.
