Bringing people together at Langdon Hospital this summer

Patients, carers and staff recently came together for a summer event at Langdon Hospital, a secure mental health hospital in Dawlish that provides specialist care for people from across the South West.

Supported by Open Up, the event offered an opportunity for people to connect, spend time together and enjoy a day away from their usual routines.

Held within the hospital grounds, the event included a range of activities, refreshments and plenty of opportunities for conversation. Patients were able to spend meaningful time with family members, friends and carers, while staff joined in to help create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Events like this play an important role in helping people maintain relationships and feel connected to those around them. For carers and family members, it was also a chance to spend quality time with loved ones and engage with the service in a more informal setting.

“This event was about creating opportunities for patients, carers and staff to come together in a positive and meaningful way. Family and social connections play an important role in recovery, and events like this help strengthen those relationships. We're grateful to Open Up for supporting an initiative that helped people feel included, valued and connected.”
