On Saturday 21 June, Paul Tully, Community Practice Lead, and Andrew Greer, Clinical Team Manager, will take on the Chase the Sun challenge in the support of our charity, Open Up. The ride covers an incredible 205 miles in a single day – from Kent all the way to Weston-Super-Mare. You can help them reach their fundraiser target by donating to their JustGiving page.
What started as a light-hearted conversation quickly turned into a big commitment. Paul, Andrew and their team only have seven weeks to train for this long and difficult ride. From a sunrise start to a sunset finish, the route includes steep climbs and long stretches, with the climb through Cheddar Gorge expected to be one of the toughest sections.
“This isn’t about being elite athletes,” says Andrew. “It’s about pushing ourselves, raising awareness and giving back to a charity that does so much to support patients and staff. We’re excited, nervous and absolutely committed to reaching the finish line. It’s going to be tough, but we’re doing it for something we truly believe in.”

It works closely with the Trust to fund projects that enhance care and recovery for people accessing mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services across Devon and beyond.
