Bringing people together at Langdon for a summer patient and family event

Supported by Open Up, the Summer Patient and Family Event at Langdon Hospital on Wednesday 11 June was a relaxed and uplifting day that brought together patients, families, carers and staff to connect, have fun and enjoy the sunshine.

Sunshine, music and meaningful moments

Thanks to the sunshine and the fantastic effort from everyone involved, the Dewnans outdoor area was full of life. The day started with a warm welcome for carers and family members, before opening into an afternoon of activities that included a barbecue, plant sales, games and live music across the corridor and sports barn.

A standout feature of the day was the continuous relay walk, which ran throughout the event and brought everyone together in a simple but meaningful way. Thanks to this, over £500 was raised to help us continue funding projects and initiatives that enhance mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity care.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this day special

Tom Woodd, Lead Forensic Social Worker at Langdon Hospital, said, “The Summer Patient and Family Event was a brilliant example of how we can bring everyone together in a meaningful way. The weather helped, of course, but it was the people, patients, families, carers and staff, who made it such a joyful and memorable occasion”.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, or supported behind the scenes. Events like this remind us how important connection and community really are, and how much we can achieve together.

If you have ideas about how we could broaden support for people receiving care from Devon Partnership NHS Trust, we’d love to hear from you. You can view our funding guidelines and application form here.
