Christmas Hamper Project 2026

Open Up - Christmas Hamper Project 2026

Your support can make a real difference this Christmas. Every donation helps us provide practical essentials and thoughtful items to young people and care leavers who may otherwise go without.

The Christmas Hamper Project returns for its seventh year in 2026, bringing warmth, comfort and practical support to young people and care leavers across Devon and Torbay.

Led by Children and Family Health Devon and supported by Open Up, the project began in 2020 as a simple act of kindness during a time of uncertainty. It has since grown into a valued annual tradition, reaching more young people each year and offering a reminder that they are seen, valued and cared for.

The impact

In 2025, 250 hampers were delivered to young people facing difficult circumstances. Each included essentials such as toiletries, warm clothing and blankets, alongside festive treats.

Supporters raised over £2,100 through JustGiving, alongside contributions from local businesses and community partners.

Young people have shared how much these hampers mean, from children wearing winter hats every day to families valuing items that bring comfort and normality. These moments highlight the project’s impact.

Today, the initiative supports more than 500 care leavers, including young parents, those in temporary accommodation, young people at risk of isolation and young asylum seekers without family in the UK.
